February 2 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm
| Free

Event Navigation

“In 1917, South Dakota adopted a very strict form of alcohol prohibition with a 0.0% tolerance for alcoholic beverages. Americans of that day and ours viewed prohibition as a rurally-supported policy, yet it failed here as it did everywhere else because alcohol was America’s drug of choice.” – Dr. Vollan

Historian and SDSU Professor Chuck Vollan, Ph.D. will speak about South Dakota’s complicated wet-to-dry battles, and will shed light and clarity on this tumultuous timeline.
