"This picture was taken during the summer of 1998 in Virginia Township, Union
County, South Dakota. Corn cribs similar to this one were used extensively until the introduction
of combines in the early 1960's, when farmers began to sell shelled corn in town rather than feed
ear corn on the farm. I took this picture because corn cribs are quickly becoming a thing of the past."
