Mexico Walk Stick

For this week’s What’s New Wednesday feature, we have this interesting walking stick from our collections. Carved into the stick is “USA Mexican Border Service Nov. 14th 1916.” This item was donated to us in 1969 and we aren’t exactly sure on how we came about getting it. We do know that from March 14, 1916, to February 7, 1917,  United States Army conducted a military operation against the paramilitary forces of Mexican revolutionary Francisco “Pancho” Villa during the Mexican Revolution from 1910–1920. This operation has been called the Pancho Villa Expedition—now known officially in the United States as the Mexican Expedition but was originally referred to as the “Punitive Expedition, U.S. Army.” Read more about the Exedidition at this link:
