1915 8-16 Mogul
Manufactured by International Harvester
During the three years McCormick sold the Mogul (1914, 1915,
and 1916) 14,065 were sold. In 1915 one-third of the 15,000
tractors sold in the United States were Moguls. The remaining
two-thirds were divided among 57 other tractor manufacturers.
The State Agricultural Heritage Museum's Mogul was used on a
farm east of Dell Rapids, South Dakota. This Mogul's plowing
career was short. After a couple of rounds, the owner said, he
found the tractor to be too slow, "a jackrabbit could walk
faster backwards." For the remainder of its working life
it was used as a source of belt-power.
Restoration of the tractor was completed in the summer of 2000.
This tractor was the feature tractor at The Power Show in
Menno, SD that fall.
