"This old well house was built in 1851. It housed one of the first
electric pumps in the area, and was installed to replace an old windmill and water
buckets. The well house is all that remains on the homestead. I feel that this well
is a wonderful representation of historic South Dakota. It shows the struggles of the
original homesteaders in their attempt to keep up with the ever-changing world."
